The new Invoice Summaries feature gives invoice reviewers everything they need right in their email to act in one place including a Brightflag AI-generated summary of what outside counsel has done in. out of pockets
‘This way, each reviewer has the knowledge they need and the security, and can sit in their email to directly scrutinize invoices rather than needing to ascend onto another more appropriate lawyers’, as the company explained.
Invoice Summaries come along with ‘a complete overhaul in the invoice review experience’ (and who needs to party when you could have good times like those?), making it easier to perform an in-depth review and to identify ‘problematic billing behavior’.
Because it’s GenAI after all, there is a conversational user interface that is ‘opening up new areas of what can be built’. Barry O’Melia, VP of Product at Brightflag, concluded: ‘External counsel constitute fully 3 gone-third of in-house legal budgets, as well as representing a third part in total of their contribution to the business. So it is vital that management for external counsel to be carried out with the latest technologies.’
This is all very welcome in the world we live in, but clearly the trend has to be that such tools will not eventually be required. Let us strive for a world of fixed fees and not one where we need GenAI to understand lots of tough time sheets—except in the interim when we will continue with Bright flag until that day comes!
