In United Arab Emirates’ first-leg semi-final with Asian champion’s league contestant Al-Ain, the match against Saudi Arabia’s Al-Hilal has been transferred from tomorrow evening to Wednesday due to heavy rains in the country causing floods.

The Asian Football Confederation made the move after heavy thunderstorms struck the UAE, with parts of major highways flooded and roadways and bridges closed. The country’s national federation suspended all soccer championship games at a local level earlier in the day.

The 8 pm local time (1600 GMT) kick-off on Wednesday at Hazza Bin Zayed Stadium in Al Ain is now the proposed time for the game.

AFC said it had taken “into consideration the safety of all the fans, players and stakeholders” in postponing the game by 24 hours.

The second leg remains the same with Al-Hilal playing host to next Tuesday’s home date against Al-Ain in Riyadh.

People are now looking at Al-Hilal to take a record fifth title, while Al-Ain is hoping for their second. The first came in 2003.
